Lisa-perfectly normal slasher

So, yeah. That Happened.

Yay Friday!

I'm literally sitting at my computer in a t-shirt and my undies, and just completely chilling out. I had a fairly busy week, work-wise, (actually, a couple of busy weeks, as (almost) all of the extensions we filed back in April were now due September 15th. Well, 16th since the 15th is a Sunday) but my part is done, so I can veg for a night before jumping into doing bills and cleaning out the clutter that used to be my apartment. (At least it's not anywhere near hoarder levels?)

But I'm a terrible pack rat. Always have been. I save everything! I started cleaning out my closet over the summer, and on that front best_of_five and xingou came shopping in my closet and I gave them a bunch of clothes (mostly work stuff) that I don't wear or need anymore. It's nice to have space. Now I just have to tackle the shoe racks and the billionty shoes on the floor of my closet ... And get rid of other stuff I don't wear anymore or that's too big for me. As well as things I don't use anymore but keep for some bizarre nostalgia's sake. Except my t-shirts. Yes, I have 4 drawers of t-shirts, and no, I am not throwing any of them away!! Not even the ones from college that are a wee bit small ... The sad thing is that this was supposed to be my Spring project. *checks calendar* Oops?

So, in other news, I went on a date last night. And also last weekend. And I suppose it's safe to say that I'm now dating. after nine years of self-imposed celibacy The lucky guy? My ex-boyfriend from twenty-two years ago, who still seems to like me and thinks I'm pretty neat, so there's that. :-P

His name is Bill, and he lives in Jersey, but the funny thing is that when we dated the first time, he lived in Staten Island, so it's really not much further now. Well, there are more tolls I suppose. (At least there's EZ-Pass now?) He works in Manhattan, though, so that's not too bad, distance-wise. It almost feels like it should have been awkward - I mean, twenty-two years have passed! He was my first internet boyfriend before the internet even officially existed. We met on an old BBS site that some guy ran from his house in Brooklyn. Oh, the good old days when a 2400 baud modem was lightning fast!

He's also six years younger than me, which isn't an issue at all now, but back then it raised a few eyebrows ... (for those doing the math, he was 18 when we met and I was 24. :-P) And speaking of, here's an amusing aside: I like to assign different ringtones to people on my mobile, so as a joke, I made my tone for him a SHINee song called "Replay (Noona, you're so pretty)" which is a song about a younger guy pining for an older woman (Noona - which technically means "sister" but it's a term guys use for women who are older (but not too old!)) So when I told him this, he made his ringtone for me "Mrs. Robinson." CLEARLY WE WERE MEANT FOR EACH OTHER!!!

He also knows all about fandom (now that I've explained it, though it's still early in our Fandom101 lessons) and I don't know if he's just smitten, a masochist, or what, but he even read one of my fics. In fact, he decided to start with the porniest one - With a Little Help From My Friends, which is a Remus/Sirius/James fic. His verdict was: "I think you are super talented and while the topic doesn't turn me on, your brain does." ♥ (Ok, maybe I'm a bit smitten, too!) As you might imagine, it was a hell of a first date:

B: So what have you been up to these past 22 years?

L: I write gay porn. Wanna see?

Okay, it wasn't QUITE like that - I said hello first! - but still. I kind of made myself a promise that if I ever did date again (something I really didn't expect, but whoomp, there it is!) I wasn't going to hide that part of me, and I refused to be embarrassed by it (because I'm not!) The fact that Bill and I have a history just made it easier, and even comfortable. (I still can't believe he started with THAT FIC, though! Ha! He's a real trooper!)

So, yeah. That happened. And now if his name comes up, you'll know who I'm talking about. :-P

OMG! I'm dating again! Is this Bizarro World, or what? I don't even have a tag for this!

Saiyuki - Ukoku O HAI

OH HAI!

Um, hi! *waves*

So I kind of went on a bit of a hiatus this summer for reasons which I still don't really know, but which probably, if one were to flow-chart them, would all end up pointing to a big bubble that proclaimed "I am the laziest fucker EVER!"

Just in case you didn't already know that.

But right above "I am the laziest fucker EVER!" would be a bubble that said "Korean Dramas ATE MY BRAAAAAAIIIIIIINNNNN!" which is also apt. And I will even discuss two of them in particular because they were just THAT awesome (!!!) but not right now, because of course, today I have to go to my brother-in-law's client's office and do real work that doesn't consist of "work for half an hour ---> reward self by playing on internet for an hour ---> rinse/repeat ad infinitum." But it pays pretty well, so I can't complain. Extra money is always \o/!

But still, I wanted to pop in and say "AINT'NT DED YET" and also "HI!!!!!!!!! HOW ARE ALL OF YOU??? I'VE MISSED YOU GUYS!!!!!!! TELL ME EVERYTHING YOU'VE BEEN DOING SINCE JUNE!!!!!!!!"

(Interjections, show excitement, or emotion ....)

♥♥♥

!!!!!!!!! *hyperventilates*!!!!!!!!!

I am a ridiculous puddle of flaily fangirl at the moment. It's kind of pathetic. But if I can't share my ridiculousness with you guys, then what's the point of fandom?? :-P

Okay, so as I mentioned in my last post, we met the lovely Clark Gregg Wednesday night at a screening of his movie Trust Me, which he wrote, directed, and starred in. We saw the Premiere Saturday night, and got to meet him briefly then, but it was the premiere, he was clearly nervous (and adorable! OMG! SO ADORABLE!) and he had the afterparty to go to when we cornered him after the movie saw him when he was leaving, so it was a brief encounter.

Wednesday night's screening was much more relaxed, it was a smaller theater than the one the premiere was held in, and the Q&A was more ... intimate. (It was just him. Saturday night, his co-stars, Sam Rockwell, Felicity Huffman, Amanda Peet, Saxon Sharbino, (who is a new, young up-and-coming actress and who was just fabulous in the movie!) Paul Sparks, (from Boardwalk Empire) and a few others were there with him, and it was much more formal - red carpet, press, Michael J Fox and Angelina Jolie there, etc.)

So, Wednesday's post-movie Q&A. Emboldened, I raised my hand to ask a question, and he called on me. I can't divulge the question without massive spoilers, but it was basically one asking about the aesthetic choice for something to do with his character, Howard, at the end of the movie. And well, the word "ugly" sort of came out. But in a funny way! I swear! He was all, "Now I'm heartbroken. That's me you're talking about!" but clearly good-natured about it.

Still, for the rest of the night, bethbethbeth and I joked about how I insulted him and his artistic choices, because, well. :-P

So today, we were tweeting about Disney/ABC picking up the new S.H.I.E.L.D. pilot and, well, this happened:

Collapse )

So, in conclusion (as at the start) I am a ridiculous and pathetic fangirl, I know, because really, it's fucking TWITTER(!!) but I'm a HAPPY ridiculous and pathetic fangirl and I don't care! Also, did I mention HOW FUCKING ADORABLE HE IS?? You know, just in case you were wondering or in doubt.

Right. So how is your Friday going?

!!!

So, just in case you didn't know, CLARK GREGG IS THE MOST FUCKING ADORABLE MAN IN THE HISTORY OF ... well, EVER!!

And he signed my Phil Coulson S.H.I.E.L.D business card from the Tesseract Box Set thingy. (Yes, I had a fangirl moment.)

Crap, I need to go to bed, but I felt this was something important you all needed to know.

That is all.

For now, at least. :-P

Things that are making me happy today

In no particular order:

1. bethbethbeth and I snagged tickets for the World Premiere of Clark Gregg's new movie, Trust Me, at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2 1/2 weeks. I may have spent a scary amount of yesterday morning doing the geeky dance of joy around my apartment. (The email in my inbox, titled: "Clark Gregg (@clarkgregg) mentioned you on Twitter!" may also have contributed somewhat to said dance. What? Like you didn't already know I was a ridiculous fangirl!) Also, today is Clark Gregg's birthday, an event that is making my tumblr dash a joy to read today. I mean, look how adorkable this man is! ♥ ♥

2. Thanks to my dealer, momebie, new concept art from Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier:

Only a year and two days to go!!! (Also! Look at Steve's awesome clothes!!!)

3. Collapse )

4. On Friday, I can haz a best_of_five!!

Things that are not so awesome? FUCKING TAX SEASON! Bleh. It's interfering with my fannish wants and needs!

But! I did manage to write another 3K or so over the weekend on Chapter 4 of my ridiculous Avengers/HP fic, and by ridiculous, I mean "Mmmmmmm, crack!" although it seems to be my mission in fic-life to make otherwise cracky premises work. (For values of "work", of course.) So the current chapter is at @5,500 words, and will likely be at least 2K longer before it goes to beta (after which, it might be half that length or possibly twice as long. Because I totally roll that way.) I'd like to get it done over the next week, but *see #4* I'll definitely have more time after the 15th to write, though. Not that my work ends by any means, but extensions mean I'll have a lot more breathing room when things aren't due until August or September 15. *Note to future self: Do not start ridiculously ambitious fic during the month before Tax Day*

Okay, this is supposed to be a things that make me happy post, so no more work stuff allowed! Well, except for the part where I really have to stop faffing around on the internet and get back to work so I can pay for the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One - Avengers Assembled (10-Disc Limited Edition Six-Movie Collector's Set I bought a couple of days ago on a whim. Whims will be the death of me. I mean, I already own all the individual movie DVDs but clearly I'm a sucker for sexy packaging and EXTRAS!) But the fact that it's supposed to arrive today is ALSO making me happy, so there is that! \o/

Oh! And IM3! Tix should go on sale soonish! Who's in?

Dr Who Tardis

Fun videos of the day!

First is a Star Wars "Death Star Truther" video, which is absolutely hilarious. The destruction of the Death Star was an inside job!

Second is a link to a fan-made trailer: What if HP and the Half Blood Prince movie was a teen rom-com?

Third (and Fourth!) is my darling beloved Doctor Who is back in 2 weeks (SO EXCITE!) and we have not one, but two trailers!

Also, spaceygoodness of the day: I have been terribly remiss, but for those of you in the mid-northern latitudes with an unobstructed and non-cloudy western view just after sunset, go take a gander and see if you can spot Comet PanSTARRS! The twitter feed for Virtual Astronomer has a ton of pics sent in by people all over the world.

I saw it very briefly last week, but then **CLOUDS**. Blergh. (And sand in my shoes for nothing. Woe.) And it's been shitty weather here ever since. Maybe you lot will have better luck!

Avengers - Hawkeye02

FIC: Let Slip the Dogs of War - [Avengers/HP - Remus/Sirius | Clint/Coulson - PG-13] (WIP)

So, I've committed fic. Crossover fic. It's a WIP, and pretty much as it says on the tin:

Let Slip the Dogs of War (4431 words) by MidniteMarauder
Chapters: 2/?
Fandom: The Avengers (2012), Marvel Cinematic Universe, Harry Potter - J. K. Rowling
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Sirius Black/Remus Lupin, Clint Barton/Phil Coulson
Characters: Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, Clint Barton, Phil Coulson, Natasha Romanov, Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, Bruce Banner, Thor (Marvel)
Additional Tags: Animal Transformation, Corgi!Clint, Crossover, Magic, Humor, New York City - the new Hellmouth, Crack
Summary:

Sirius Black and Remus Lupin are living in New York City. Clint Barton, unfazed by aliens, gods, and Doombots alike, probably shouldn't be so surprised to find out that wizards actually exist. (Or the one where Clint gets turned into a Corgi and makes an Animagus friend.)

Truncated Author's Notes: HUGE thanks to my betas, whymzycal, bethbethbeth, and red_squared, who give the best ball-busting critiques and help save me from myself. Title from Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. Also, for purposes of this story, it's 2012, Remus & Sirius survived, are raising Teddy, and have moved to NYC. Avengers-wise, it's MCU (movie) canon only with theft of 616 villains only.

*

I almost wish I could say "I have no idea where this came from", except that would be a lie. :-P There's a thing in the Clint/Coulson section of fandom where someone posted a prompt on the kink meme with a corgi .gif asking for fic where Clint gets turned into a corgi. I have a serious weakness for these stories (and there are several!) which is probably magnified tenfold by my history of MWPP-Remus/Sirius love, because, you know, Sirius is a dog. And then one day (with some enabling) my brain just kind of thought, "Ah - Two great tastes that taste great together!" and gave me a craving for Reese's Peanut Butter Cups

I've only posted the first two chapters, although the third is (longer! and) complete (and betaed!) and I'm a couple thousand words into the fourth, but I haven't posted a WIP since my Trixie Belden days, and I want to get a bit more of the story solidified on 'paper'. When I write, especially long stories, what tends to happen -- even when I have things plotted out (as I do here) -- is that I'll get near the end and some new *idea* will pop into my head (or one of my betas will point something out) that I must add to the story right NOW. Lots of times that involves adding things to earlier parts to seed the idea. Which is great - I love when that happens. Only it's not so great when it happens and you've already posted most of the story and now you can't retcon it. :-P

I'm figuring six chapters, but again, this is me, the person who thought she could write a short rs_small_gifts 1,000-3,000 word fic. And we know how most of those turned out. (News flash: 13K, 10K, 20K. Current fic has 13K written, though only 4,400 posted.)

So yeah. That. Um, Hi?
